Smart Grid IoT: Solarparks mit LTE-M, Windkraft mit privatem 5G, Netzausgleich mit Sub-100ms-Latenz
· 7 min read · Case Studies
Ein Solarpark in der Wuste hat kein Glasfaser. Ein Windpark 50km vor der Kuste hat keinen Mobilfunkmast. Beide mussen Echtzeit-Telemetrie in Netzausgleichssysteme einspeisen.
Solar: Warum LTE-M
Solarparks benotigen Firmware-Updates fur Wechselrichter (2-5 MB). NB-IoT mit 20 kbps braucht 15-40 Minuten pro Wechselrichter. LTE-M mit 300-500 kbps braucht 40-90 Sekunden. Bei 500 Wechselrichtern: 50 Stunden kumulative Ausfallzeit vs 3 Stunden.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
LTE-M or NB-IoT for solar farm monitoring?
LTE-M. Solar farms need firmware updates for inverters (2-5 MB per update). NB-IoT at 20 kbps effective throughput takes 15-40 minutes per inverter. LTE-M at 300-500 kbps takes 40-90 seconds. Across 500 inverters, the cumulative downtime difference is 50 hours vs 3 hours. LTE-M also supports TCP and full IP stack — required for secure OTA and SCADA protocols.
Why private 5G instead of public cellular for offshore wind?
Grid balancing requires sub-10ms latency from the grid operator control system to the turbine controller. Public cellular networks cannot guarantee this latency or provide deterministic scheduling. Private 5G on dedicated spectrum (n77/n78, 3.7-3.8 GHz) with local MEC provides URLLC-grade latency and on-prem data processing — critical when the grid frequency deviates and the wind farm must respond within 4 seconds.
