Routers Industriales: AT, Dual-SIM y Modbus

AT+CSQ antes de perforar. Ping-failover. SIM IP estatica.

Comandos AT: La Linea Directa al Modem

Preguntas frecuentes

Should I use ping failure or RSSI threshold for dual-SIM failover?

Ping failure is the primary trigger —it detects end-to-end connectivity loss including upstream core network failures that RSSI cannot see. RSSI threshold should be a secondary trigger for cases where signal degrades gradually before total loss. Avoid timer-based switching as a primary strategy.

Does my IoT SIM need a static IP for Modbus TCP?

If the SCADA server initiates connections to the router (polling mode), yes —a static private IP or public IP is required. Standard IoT SIMs with carrier-grade NAT only support outbound connections from the router. If the router initiates connections to the SCADA server (TCP client mode), a dynamic IP behind NAT is sufficient.

Two SIMs from the same carrier —does that provide redundancy?

No. Two SIMs on the same MNO share the same tower, same core network, and same failure domain. A tower outage or core network failure takes down both SIMs simultaneously. Multi-IMSI SIMs with profiles from different MNOs provide true carrier-level redundancy.
